Entering into the Kingdom of the Heavens to Gain the Reward |
Week 24 --- Reigning with Christ |
Tuesday --- Scripture Reading: 2 Cor. 5:10; Gal. 2:20; 1 Pet. 1:7 |
“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20)
We need to endeavour to seek the Lord every day and allow His life to grow in us continually. This will cause us to be approved before the judgment seat of Christ and to gain the reward that has been prepared for us by Him.
There are people who endeavour much to reach their goals despite the failures and struggles they face. In the spiritual realm we also need to have this desire to overcome. If by some chance we sometimes fail in some situations, we must repent and cast our natural life into the fire of the Spirit to be burned, thus allowing the divine life to grow more in us.
During the three and a half years the Lord walked on the earth with His disciples, at different times He used situations to enlighten Peter, leading him to realize how terrible his soul-life was. Peter probably took advantage of these opportunities to repent and deny himself.
Peter will surely be praised when the Lord comes back (1 Pet. 1:7; 2 Cor. 5:10). He will receive glory and honour before everyone and will reign with the Lord Jesus. Peter’s soul-life was stronger than that of many of us because he was hard like a stone. If he, being so hard, will one day be praised by the Lord because he was transformed by Him, there is also hope for each one of us. Praise the Lord!
Today the Lord lives in us as the life-giving Spirit (Gal. 2:20). He is constantly speaking words of love from our spirit that we might follow the example of the apostle Peter and learn to deny ourselves. If we take care of His words, we will grow in life until we reach maturity. So when we realize that we are doing something by our soul-life, we need to endeavour to seek the Lord in order to receive light, repent and be transformed. Even if we fall repeatedly, we must endeavour to be enlightened even more regarding where we have failed and rise up to go on.
God’s light needs to shine on us more intensely. His word needs to become more living and real in our daily experiences. We need to go on from the mere knowledge of the truths to practising them. We need to know the truths contained in the Bible, but just knowing them is only like receiving “the first-day light. To receive “the fourth-day light” is to practise the truths that we know, thus making them our reality.
Early in the morning the light of the sun is gentle, but at midday it becomes very strong, to the point of making it altogether unpleasant to be under. Only this intense light, however, is capable of causing the vegetable life to grow and bear fruit plentifully. Therefore, if we want to rule over the nations and peoples with the Lord in His kingdom, we cannot stay merely in the knowledge of the truths; we need to practise them.
Receiving the intense light of the word.
Why do we need God’s intense light?
